Our principal teacher is John Blanchette.

John had a spectacularly unsuccessful career as a rock star in the 1980s, being the main songwriter, guitarist and (reluctant) singer with Sons of Lovers, who went nowhere near Number 1 with "Try to Remember" in 1987.

After a second career in the corporate world, John decided to get back into music in 2008 and, since then has been teaching the guitar and drums.

John's experience as an accredited cricket and rugby league coach has given him unique insights into how kids and teenagers learn.  His corporate experience - which involved giving a lot of classroom and on-the-job training - has similarly given him an insight into how adults learn.

In his view, early and continuing successes and making things fun are crucial to maintaining interest in learning (of any type).  When it comes to learning the guitar, this means that students must learn to play music that they like and that they must be given pieces to learn which makes them sound good, right from the outset.
